In the world of production work and creative collaboration, a lot can attest that Ian Castañares is a hardworking natural. After graduating with a degree in Communication Arts from De La Salle University in 2003, he joined broadcast giant ABS-CBN as a member of its Creative Synergy team, working on promos for a slew of programs that include reality, talk and variety shows. After only a year, he transitioned into becoming a Segment Producer for a popular youth debate show in Studio 23, ABS-CBN’s sister network. He then moved to Cebu to work as an Associate Producer for international media company Bigfoot Entertainment, which got him involved in a variety of special projects that range from TV commercials to feature films. Today, he is back in Manila working as a freelance producer and, naturally, photographer.
A full-fledged leisure and media junkie, Ian lives by the artistic ideal of “trying to look for things that no one else catches,” which is taken from the beautifully-crafted movie Amelie. He discovered early on his college years that he has both the eye and, most especially, the enthusiasm for the craft of photography, particularly for taking portraits and travel pictures. He is currently busy putting together his own studio, building on his creative foundations to venture into fashion photography and surveying the industry to know just how he can make his own cutting-edge mark.
